Upcoming Concerts For 2015-2016

In collaboration with the Department of Interactive Multimedia and the TCNJ Art Gallery exhibition, “A Palette of Pixels”, the Department of Music is proud to present this concert of outstanding music from video games performed by The College of New Jersey Wind Ensemble and conductor, Dr. David Vickerman. Come enjoy music from Halo, Civilization IV, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy VII, Journey, Chrono Trigger, God of War, Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros. and others! Featuring special guest conductor and composer of the God of War series for Sony Playstation, Gerard K. Marino. During the day, Mr. Marino will also be speaking at the Brown Bag Lecture series about composing for video games and media.  This concert also features special guest ensemble, The College of New Jersey Chorale and their conductor, Dr. John Leonard.  (Since the concert is the day before Halloween, we would like to encourage audience members to dress as their favorite video game character!)

The Department of Music is proud to present an evening of unique and contemporary wind band music that explores humanity’s deep connection to the world around us, our connection to our musical past, our connection to the unknown and our ever-deepening connection to technology.  Featuring TWO premieres:Velocity Meadows by Christopher Stark, a soprano saxophone concerto with TCNJ Saxophone Professor, Kathleen Mitchell and Observer in the Magellanic Cloud by Mason Bates, in a new wind ensemble arrangement by Director of Bands, David Vickerman. The concert closes with Steven Bryant’s epic and award-winning composition for wind ensemble and live electronics, Ecstatic Waters. Special guests, The Eastern Wind Symphony Youth Band, will also perform on the concert.
